Digital printing of vinyl labels

Posted on Wed, 16 Jun 2004 at 23:35

Hello,

I am trying to find a digital printer (and stock) that will allow me to commercially print vinyl labels (With adhesive on the back). They are to be used for labelling things like kids lunchboxes, shoes etc, and would need to be waterproof. Also I would need to print in color.

I envisaged say a color laser printer using standard letter size sheets of vinyl labels (ala Avery label sheets). I have seen that worldlabel.com offer a vinyl label sheet that is supposed to be useable in a laser printer. But I can't seem to find a laser printer that supports it.

I know this method of printing will mean there is no 'topcoat' on the label, is that a serious issue? And if so, is there some way to get around.

I have seen a number of retail outlets offering this service, but I don't what machine they use to do it!

Any help much appreciated

Regards,
John Lamp

Gerber Edge is way too expensive, has tons more waste, and there are about 15 other machines for less, that or way better, check the guy that responded that has used printers, it is easiest with a printer/cutter combo, unattended, start to finish.
