HELP! Full Front T-Shirt Graphics..Do I have to go to India?

Hi all, I'm interested in getting some shirts printed/manufactured but I want a very particular type of scrreen printing. I am interested in my design extending the entire length of the t-shirt (from the collar to the bottom). Most of the local screen printers I have contacted have advised me that I would need to have my design screen printed on a "ROLL" of material and THEN have the t-shirts manufactured.

Does anyone have any info on this type of printing? Do I really have to have t-shirts actually MANUFACTURED for me?
