Can you use vinyle for a ruby?

I know this might be a dumb question but I'm a rookey. What if I reverese cut and weeded out the letters and then applied the pressure sensitive vinyl to the back. Would that work? I don't have a screen burn system.

I have used vinyl many times, and with certain vinyls it will melt after a day or so, but it has worked great for me if you do all your shirts the same day. I just did a run this week (5 days ago) with vinyl and the screens are still good.
