white ink not smooth

Posted on Mon, 27 Dec 2004 at 15:56

I am new to our screenprinting shop and it seems our white ink on anything does not come out smooth. There are almost small "chuck" like textures in the ink. I have asked our printer to thin it out, wipe the back of the screen more, but we are just not consistent with good looking products when using white ink.

Any suggestions to help our product look better?

Thank you!

You don't mention what type of inks you use or what type of substrate your printing on. There are several options depending on what your doing. Also how you're printing is important to answer your question. Are you printing by hand or mechanically (auto or semi-auto).
If your printing solvent based inks on flat surfaces (paper, plastic, etc) you may only need a "bubble breaker" or a "flow agent". Or you could be seeing mesh marks. Any number of things could be causing your problem, eliciting many remedies.

Let us know and we'll be happy to help.

Good Luck
