I am looking for a way to have a 4'x7' sign printed in FULL-COLOR, on a light-weight material, that is however, strong enough to stand on it's own vertically. I am not hanging or mounting this sign, it is to be upright, free-standing. I looked into "Ultra Foam Core Panels", but no one could tell me whether they would be able to stand on their own. I am looking for a material that is lighter than plywood or MDO. I am interested in finding a printer that can print a file, this large, directly onto the material. Thank you for any information you can provide. --Jane
Printing on decks is not that complicated if you have the right ink, screens etc. We print our own spot color boards (upto 4 colors) and send more sosphicated designs out to be printed.
Here is what you need to do your own.
Basic Screen printing unit
Screens with a 110 mesh count. For tight registration I recommend 230
Nazdar 9700 Mulit Purpose ink
Burning screens and pressing is the same.
We can do what you need. We have a Zund flatbed digital printer that can print on materials up to 84" wide by any length and up to 1.5" thick. The type of material that it sounds like you need to use is Ultraboard, Gatorboard or perhaps a pvc product like Celtec or Sintra. If you are still need this done, or for futher products contact me at:

"Ultra" & "Gator" board (brand name for plastic coated foamboards) should be satisfactory for your needs. They come stock @ 1/2" thickness (I'm sure other thickness's are available) and are easily screen printed.
We're in Southern California (along with dozens of other capable screen printers).
I have no doubt that you could find a suitable screener in your local yellow pages under "screen printing". If not, you can check out this web site for many fine screeners who will accomodate your needs. (or you can give me a call @ 562-531-2339)
Good Luck
