building a light box

Posted on Sat, 14 Aug 2004 at 17:45

hi. i'd like to know if anyone has any experience in building light boxes for silkscreen burning. i've been searching all over the web for silkscreen-specific instructions or suggestions but have found none. i understand the basic construction aspects but my concerns are: is there a certain wattage or type of fluorescent light i should buy that's more appropriate for use with photoemulsion, and should i use opaque white plexiglass or clear glass? any help (in the form of personal experience, suggested websites or literature) would be very much appreciated.

Hi addie, it is possible. build a box, use flourescant light source, can find special bulbs on-line, use glass about 3/8 thick is good. Use roofing rubber for vacumm blacket, buy a vacumm pump, etc. use your imagination and sky's the limit. Good luck
