HP Enters Textile Market with Dye Sub Printers

Stitch presses employ thermal inkjet printheads.

HP has unveiled HP Stitch dye sublimation printers that print to transfer paper or direct to fabric at 1200 dpi. The entry-level HP Stitch S300 is a 64-in. printer with a max. print speed of 665 sq ft/hr using four printheads. The 64-in. HP Stitch S500 has a max. print speed of 1185 sq ft/hr and eight printheads for use in high-production environments. Features include user-replaceable, thermal inkjet printheads; front-loading media; and HP Smart Nozzle Compensation system. HP Smart color tools comprise automatic detection of out-of-gamut color, built-in spectrophotometer for color accuracy, and Pantone emulation for a close visual match. Intended for such applications as interior décor, fashion, sportswear, and soft signage.
